Is there a way to actually see the entire year in one glance?
i.e. without having to scroll down to see more events?

This will depend on the size of your display and the number of events you are showing. The more events you want to display, the more space required on your screen.
There are some things you can do. In Customise My Planner:- Reduce font size for several text types
- Reduce cell width and cell height
- Hide header
- Single line to condense event titles
- Align By Date in horizontal or vertical view
You can also try:
- Go full screen in the top menu
- Zoom in and out natively in the browser (usually Ctrl+ plus or minus) but be aware that the text becomes much smaller.
