Microsoft / Outlook Calendar: utilise categories & category colors

Last Update 11 days ago

Year Glance now displays Outlook Calendar categories and their colors. You can categorise events in Outlook or directly set categories when adding/editing events in Year Glance.

How it works

  • Each category in Outlook has a designated color.

  • Applying a category to an event changes its color in both Outlook and Year Glance.

  • If multiple categories are applied, the color of the first category is used.

Option 1: Categorise in Outlook Calendar

  1. Open Outlook Calendar.

  2. Right-click the event.

  3. Hover over Categorise.

  4. Choose a category or categories or create a new one with your preferred color.

Option 2: Categorise in Year Glance

  1. Add a new event or edit an existing event in Year Glance.

  2. In the event editor, select the Category field.

  3. Choose from your existing Outlook categories.

  4. Save the event.

Notes

  • Changes made in Year Glance sync with Outlook and vice versa.

  • If no category is applied, the default calendar color is used.

  • If multiple categories are selected, the first category color will be shown.
